Roasting Success: A Journey in My Garage with the Behmor 2000AB

Embarking on the adventure of roasting coffee beans at home has been an exciting mission, especially with my newly acquired Behmor 2000AB. I reached a milestone with my third roast, and the experience was nothing short of delightful. This time, I opted for a light roast using Ethiopian coffee beans, aiming to capture the intricate flavors and aromas that make this origin so special. As any home roaster knows, the key is not just in the beans but in mastering the nuances of the roasting process. Which is still an uphill battle.

It seems simple but with everything in the roast going on, I learned that if the temp isn’t dropping fast enough just simply vent the door! This simple adjustment played a significant role in enhancing the overall outcome, allowing for better control of the roasting environment. Additionally, holding down the “a” button on the Behmor 2000AB for temperature readings became a crucial part of my routine. During the roast, I tried to maintain the ideal temperature range of 320-325°F. Sometimes reading the manual is difficult and I get too excited to read and just want to jump right in.

The aromas that filled my garage during the roast were nothing short of heavenly. The chilly weather in northwest Florida provided a perfect backdrop, with the heat emanating from the roaster. It’s moments like these that make home roasting a truly immersive and rewarding experience.

Looking ahead, my next project involves eagerly awaiting the arrival of coffee bags. Once they’re here, I plan to share the fruits of my labor with friends by sending out samples for their review. The thought of sharing my handcrafted coffee with others adds an extra layer of excitement to this already fulfilling endeavor.

As I continue to refine my roasting skills, each batch brings new insights and discoveries. The Behmor 2000AB has proven to be a reliable companion on this caffeinated adventure, and I look forward to many more roasts, each one bringing me closer to the perfect cup of home-roasted bliss.
